Brolga with his kangeroos at the supermarket. See SWNS story SWROO. A gentle giant has been nicknamed ‘Kangaroo Dundee’ after rescuing and raising more than 200 orphan marsupials. Brolga, a 6ft7 Australian, gave up a life in the city to open his own sanctuary in the outback where plays the role of a kangaroo mum. The kindhearted bachelor, whose lifestyle means he has struggled to find his dream woman, now lives in a shack with no running water or boiler. But he doesn’t care about modern luxuries - with caring for his beloved kangaroos the most important thing in his life. The Aussie cares for the babies 24-hours a day, taking them to the supermarket and letting them sleep at the bottom of his bed. Brolga, whose real name is Chris Barns, and faces the regular risk of bushfires and wild dogs, has had his amazing story documented in the tender two-part BBC2 series Kangaroo Dundee.
